Local Cavan businesses hold meeting with French Senate delegation

A group of local Cavan businesses recently met with a visiting delegation from French senate to discuss the potential effect from Brexit on local exporting firms. The meeting took place in Cootehill on 3rd April last & was organised by Deputy Brendan Smith TD.

The visiting senators were members of the France-Ireland friendship group within the French Senate and were accompanied by staff from the French embassy in Ireland.

Attending local  businesses included Carleton Cakes, Liffey Meats, Cootehill Precision Engineering, Abcon and Mastek .
 
Issues of concern raised included the uncertainty surrounding the final deal to be agreed between EU and UK, the risk of currency fluctuation, the dependence on the UK as a landbridge to mainland Europe, and the risk of delays, tariffs, and additional bureaucracy.
